School/University Waste & Recycling Services FAQs
Below are answers to some common questions related to managing trash and recyclables for educational facilities, schools, and universities.
What size container is right for my building or campus?
Size matters when it comes to garbage. We have many bin, dumpster and container options available to handle all your waste and recycling needs. We make it easy to have your facilities serviced so you can focus on running your building or campus.
Front-load containers, bins and dumpsters are most often used for non-residential, business or commercial waste collection. You can arrange for one or more 2-,4-, 6- or 8-cubic-yard containers.
In addition to schools and university campuses, front-load containers are good for office buildings, apartments and other residential buildings, dining halls and healthcare offices.
What is the difference between a front-load container and a rear-load container?
Front-load dumpsters and rear-load dumpsters typically have the same capacity for trash and refuse. The key difference is the way the truck picks up and empties the dumpster. With a front-loading dumpster, there are metal slots on both sides of the dumpster where the truck forks insert, and the container is lifted and emptied over the top of the truck cab.
With rear-load dumpsters, the truck connects directly to the face of the dumpster, usually by way of a cable. This means rear-load dumpsters don’t have slots on the sides, making them ideal for tighter spaces.
What is the difference between a slanted-top bin or a flat-top bin?
Slanted-top bins are better suited for very cold environments. Melting snow and ice will drain off the slanted tops. Both types of bin have tops made of hard plasti
Where will my dumpsters be located?
We will consult with you to identify a location(s) that is easily accessible for our trucks and drivers and safe for your faculty and staff.
How often is trash picked up?
usiness trash pickup is once per week, with additional days available by request. We make it easy to up-size your container or arrange for additional pickups based on the seasonality and peaks of your operation.
What are the rules for business or commercial recycling?
We offer commercial, business and industrial recycling services, and there is no “one size fits all” approach. Our most common recycling services include weekly pickup of commonly recycled items, such as cardboard, paper and everyday metals or plastics. In select areas and markets, we offer heavy duty paper, steel, aluminum, fiber and plastics recycling. Typically, these items are collected through roll-off dumpsters, frontload containers or compactors. These specialized recycling offerings can be packaged with your commercial waste, trash or garbage service at a great value.
