Commercial Trash & Recycling Services FAQs

Below are answers to some common questions related to managing waste and recycling on a commercial level.

What should I consider before ordering a commercial dumpster or scheduling commercial trash service?

  • Frequency: For example, businesses with food scraps that often cause dumpsters to smell, should consider more frequent pickups
  • Space restraints or the size of your cart corral
  • Separate dumpsters for trash and recycling
  • Upgrades:
    • Wheels (available on 2-4 yd dumpsters)
    • Locking devices

What is the difference between a front-load dumpster and a rear-load dumpster?

Front-load dumpsters and rear-load dumpsters typically have the same capacity for trash and refuse. The key difference is the way the truck picks up and empties the dumpster. With a front-loading dumpster, there are metal slots on both sides of the dumpster where the truck forks insert and the container is lifted and emptied over the top of the truck cab.

With rear-load dumpsters, the truck connects directly to the face of the dumpster, usually by way of a cable. This means rear-load dumpsters don’t have slots on the sides, making them ideal for tighter spaces and for safety constraints like overhead wires or under buildings in urban areas.

Where will my commercial dumpsters be located?

When you order online, you’ll be able to designate/describe where you would like the dumpster to be placed. We will work to accommodate the request as best as possible with the safety of our drivers, your customers and employees being our top priority.

What materials are not acceptable in my commercial dumpster?

Excluded materials that are not to be placed in the container include, but are not limited to:

  • Waste tires
  • Radioactive materials
  • Volatile, corrosive, flammable, explosive, biomedical, infectious, bio-hazardous, or regulated medical waste
  • Hazardous waste, toxic substance or material (as defined by, characterized or listed under applicable federal, state or local laws or regulations)
  • Any materials containing information protected by federal, state or local privacy and security laws or regulations
  • Special waste not approved in writing by Anastasio Trucking, including not limited to:
    • lubricating/hydraulic oil
    • medical waste
    • motor oil
    • other flammable liquids
    • petroleum-contaminants
    • propane tanks
    • radioactive materials
    • aerosol cans
    • batteries
    • oil filters
    • antifreeze
    • asbestos
    • chemical products
    • herbicides and pesticides
    • soil/lead paint chips
    • animals
    • appliances
    • barrels
    • bricks
    • concrete
    • demo bricks
    • industrial waste
    • microwaves
    • monitors
    • railroad ties
    • televisions
    • tree stumps
    • all liquids
    • contaminated oils
    • fluorescent tubes
    • dirt/soil
    • PCBs/PCB building material

  • Any other items or materials prohibited by federal, state or local laws or regulations

How often is business waste picked up?

We will pick up your commercial waste as infrequent as once a month or as often as 7-days-a-week. We make it easy to scale up or down depending on seasonality and the peaks of your business using our online service change feature. Arranging extra one-off pickups can get to be more expensive than increasing frequency altogether.

Will there be any extra charges on my invoice?

The charges you see online will reflect what you will pay each month. Additional charges may apply if additional services are incurred. These include, but are not limited to extra pickups, seasonal hold charges, or recycling contamination charges.

What are the rules for business or commercial recycling?

We offer commercial and industrial recycling services. There is no “one size fits all” approach and we’re happy to work with you on a customized solution.

Our most common recycling services include weekly pickup of commonly recycled items, such as cardboard, paper and everyday metals or plastics. In select areas and markets, we offer heavy duty paper, steel, aluminum, fiber and plastics recycling. Typically, these items are collected through roll-off dumpsters, front-load containers or compactors. These specialized recycling offerings can be packaged with your regular business waste service at a great value.

How will my schedule be impacted the week of a holiday?

If there are changes to your service schedule due to a holiday, we will notify you in advance.

How is trash/recycling pickup impacted in the event of a storm, blizzard, etc.?

When weather-related issues, natural disasters or other serious situations occur, we work hard to keep you informed of how they may affect your service. Safety is our number one concern for our customers and for our employees.
